About this place
Just a short walk from Hoya Station, HI Shokudo is an izakaya whose menu moves easily between cuisines. Italian and Chinese dishes share space with seasonal fresh fish and familiar izakaya snacks, making it easy to put together a meal to suit the mood.
Wine-friendly small plates and punchy Chinese flavours
Start with appetisers to enjoy alongside a glass of wine. The rich white-liver pâté is worth ordering with extra crisp bread, while the Camembert fritters with honey and pepper and miso-marinated cream cheese are other tempting options. For a bolder flavour, there is Sichuan-style stir-fried aubergine, mouth-watering chicken and fried dishes served with tartar sauce.
Finish with a satisfying signature pasta
Later in the meal, try pasta made with the restaurant’s own sauces. The Garlic Shrimp Pasta of Desire and the Indulgent Tomato Soup Pasta, made with plenty of sautéed garlic to bring out its savoury depth, are hearty choices. Both are available in different noodle portions, so you can order one to finish a meal of small plates or make it the centrepiece of dinner.
The restaurant has counter seating as well as tables, making it suitable for solo diners and groups alike.
